The Saints host the NFC Championship game against the Vikings by Stephen Lars

Minnesota must be a bit worried about this game. They are certainly motivated. This is their first shot at a Super Bowl game since 1976, but playing in the Superdome is not going to make things that easy for the Vikings. Brett Favre and the team have been quite impressive at home this season. They are 9-0 and the veteran quarterback has thrown 25 touchdown passes and only 2 interceptions. Things in the road have not been as smooth: with a 4-4 record in hand, we are quite sure that the Vikings would have loved to play at the Metrodome.

The Saints, on the other hand, are having their best season ever. They have a good chance of making it into the Super Bowl for the first time. They are only one home game away from their trip to Florida. And if that is not motivation enough for the players to go out to the field and give us one heck of a game, they don't belong in the NFL. No matter whom you are cheering for, this is going to be one hell of a match.

Favre is having his best season ever. Even more so if one considers that he wasn't committed to play for the Vikings until just a couple weeks before the season's start. He has enough experience to guide his team in this difficult game. But if we try to keep an objective eye on the game, the Saints have an amazing QB, and Minnesota's defense is going to have to go on overdrive to control Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees. This is going to make for one great match-up.

Both teams won their previous games with some unexpected ease. Now they face each other for a spot in the big one. If you are interested in taking some action on the sides or total, don't forget to check out the game, halves and quarter lines BetIAS has to offer. As of press time, online sportsbook industry leader, Instant Actions Sports has made the New Orleans Saints Saints favorite by -3½ points on the spread. And while you are at it, don't forget to visit the many different features and props that they have to offer. Its just a little example of what they will be offering for the Super Bowl.

The Vikings have a solid team. They have 9 Pro Bowl players, and are ranked 6th in the NFL for both offense and defense. They are going to face the top-ranked scoring offense in the league. It's going to be a good game with a lot of activity close to the end zones. The combination Favre-Peterson-Rice could mean trouble for the Saints' defense. But the Superdome is still one of those stadiums that can and will get loud, and can still give a significant advantage to home team. If Reggie Bush can perform like he did last week, well, he is certainly going to give his team a bit of an edge on the offense.

AFC Championship 2010 Odds and Preview : New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts by LorrainePerla

AFC Championship 2010 Odds and Preview : New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts :Coach Rex Ryan and his Jets team will always have doubters. The ones that expected New York to go into Cincinnati and lose and the same group that were laying up to nine points on San Diego being the final stop on New York's playoff tour.

This week NFL Sports Betting Indianapolis welcomes New York in the AFC Conference Final and although some of the doubt has been erased following back-to-back playoff wins, the challenge that awaits at Lucas Oil Stadium is arguably the toughest hurdle in all of football.

Let's break this game down and look at the pick we suggest. You can see more analysis on this game and the Vikings at Saints at www.BetRepublic.com both by watching their innovative online sports betting TV shows and on their posting boards.

AFC Championship 2010 : New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts

Online sportsbooks have the Colts set as 7.5-point favourites with an Over/Under of 39. Books reported early action on Indianapolis when the game went up on the board, but the betting has levelled off the last couple of days. The Over/Under is a different story, as bettors liked the Under right from the opening number, bringing it down from 41 to 39.

New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts @ NFL Sports Betting

Peyton Manning leads one of the league's most elite offenses and for this road-weary defense it will be a step up in class. In a 20-3 win vs. Baltimore in the division finals Manning used his usual play-makers, Reggie Wayne (8-63, 1 TD) and Dallas Clark (7-59, 0 TD), for key third down situations that kept the chains moving. But it is also the supporting cast, the other five targets that Manning spread 15 passes to, that make this unit hard to defend.

Indy's offense scored 27-plus points in the four games that preceded the controversial Week 16 loss to New York that will forever live in infamy with the Colts faithful. There hasn't been any real evidence so far this season that an opponent can come into this building and stop the home side (again, when the starters are all in the game) from putting up some points.

New York's D is based on a shutdown, Pro Bowl corner (Revis) that can all but eliminate his opponent's top WR. The rest of the secondary has above-average coverage skills and the front seven can blitz with the best of them. It helped New York lead in nearly every defensive category during the regular season, but 15 out of 16 times the Jets weren't playing this offense and in the one game where they did face Indy, it was vs. the Junior-V edition in the second half.

Jets rookie QB Mark Sanchez is going to be expected to do his part running the offense but the majority of the time that just means handing the ball to any one of his talented backs and stepping out of the way. The Indianapolis run defense gets a bad rap for not being able to defend the run but it's actually a bit of myth. Just ask the explosive Baltimore Ravens RB trio that managed 78 yards last week on 16 carries. So far New York has rushed for 171 yard (CIN) and 169 yards (SD) but the Colts will be gameplanning for this and do have more run-stopping ability than they are given credit for.

The Colts secondary had a facelift this season and helped by the speed-rush of DEs Freeney and Mathis will be able to limit New York through the air. If the Colts can keep the run-game on a short leash and prevent big gains that are becoming common place in this year's playoffs, it is going to result in stalled drives and a lot of time spent on the field by New York's defensive unit. Eventually this could lead to holes in the coverage and gaps on the line that Manning and the offense will take full advantage of.

Oddsmakers, much to the chagrin of HC Ryan, opened with a line of Colts -7 and that was quickly bet up a half-point to the current line. We recommend buying that line back to the TD and going with the superior offense to finish the job at home that it started in Week 16.

NFL - Vikings defeat Cowboys and advance to the NFC Championship Game by Stephen Lars

The Minnesota Vikings crushed the Dallas Cowboys 34-3 last Sunday. Dallas is left with no options, having lost all hope of participating in the Super Bowl XLIV.

With the victory, the Vikings advance directly to the NFC Championship, where they will face the New Orleans Saints. At this match, the Vikings will have an opportunity to add a fifth conference title, the last of which was obtained in 1976, when they beat the LA Rams (now of St. Louis) 24-13.

Brett Favre was responsible for leading his team to victory against the Big D. The 40-year old veteran quarterback contributed 234 yards, completed 15 of 24 passes, and converted 4 touchdowns.

Leaving behind the idea of retiring for a second time, Favre returned to the game with great enthusiasm. He did everything he could to give his new team a chance at the finals and the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Favre said he and his teammates were feeling very confident about winning in the decisive game.

Nor were his feelings wrong. The Purple Pride played one of the best games of the season, attacking strongly and pressuring opponents. The Vikings had the tactics to take the win, and now enjoy a unique opportunity to advance to the finals.

From the beginning, the Minnesota team imposed with fast and powerful plays that prevented Dallas from progressing. The Cowboys just couldn't fully develop their playing strategy.

With just four minutes to end the first quarter, Minnesota thrilled the crowd with its first touchdown, scored by Sidney Rice. The goal intimidated Dallas, who continued playing defense, losing focus on offense. America's Team just couldn't open its scoreboard.

In the second quarter, ahead by 7, the Vikings kept control of the game, although they allowed one field goal. The visiting team took advantage of the only opportunity it had during the match to score.

During the third quarter, the game proceeded smoothly; no points were added.

In the fourth quarter, Minnesota's powerful defense prevented the Cowboys from developing their attack. They pressed hard on Tony Romo, whose lack of precision caused him difficulty.

However, just starting the last quarter, Longwell sent a second field goal - 28 yards - that brought the Vikings another three points. With a score of 20-3, Minnesota looked unstoppable.

Favre's excellent work made him the player of the game. He handled the ball effectively, tossing it to Rice to score a third touchdown in the game.

Despite enjoying a wide lead of 27-3, the Vikings continued their game strategy, increasing the score to 34-3 after a touchdown from Visanthe Shiancoe. The last touchdown occurred with less than two minutes left in the fourth. With this resounding victory, Minnesota completely overshadowed Dallas.

2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year by Kent Steinike

Do you know who was named the National Football League 2009 Defensive Player of the Year? If you're from the state of Wisconsin or a Green Bay Packers fan then you likely know the answer is Charles Woodson. With 74 tackles and 9 interceptions (3 of which were returned for touchdowns), Woodson received twice as many votes as the runner up, Darrelle Revis, of the New York Jets.

Charles Woodson became the ultimate playmaker in 2009 as the Green Bay Packers switched to a 3-4 base defense under defensive coordinator Dom Capers. The switch in defense allowed the Packers to use Woodson as safety and blitz specialist. When the Packers signed Woodson to a large free agent contract in 2007, many thought he was washed up, injury-prone and would not make it through his 4-year contract. However, Woodson is playing the best football of his career right now. He's originally from Freemont, Ohio, and is a former Heisman trophy winner at the University of Michigan. During his 12 years in the NFL, he has 717 total tackles, 11.5 sacks and 45 interceptions.

Along with his popularity, demand for Charles Woodson merchandise, especially jerseys, has soared to a new high in 2009. Many online and store retailers have been unable to keep his merchandise stocked, with items flying off the shelves the same day they arrive.

NFL Playoffs- The Colts will host the AFC Championship Game against the Jets by Stephen Lars

It's a bit funny how things work out sometimes. Lets take the AFC Championship game for example. We covered this story a couple weeks ago, but here is a recap. During week 16 of the regular season, The New York Jets were 7-7 and about to be kicked out of the playoffs. They were facing the Indianapolis Colts and with MVP Payton Manning at the helm the Jets were down 15-10 with 5:36 left in the third quarter. And that is when the Colts´ Head Coach, Jim Caldwell, pulled out Manning and some of his other key starters. Backup quarterback Curtis Painter came into the field and before a booing crowd guided the Colts to their first defeat of the season, 29-15.

The Jets then went on to pull off some spectacular games. They faced the Bengals in their last regular season game, and just swipe them off their feet with a 37-0 victory. So, at the moment, it seemed that the Bengals were not trying too hard. They had already secured a spot in the Wild Card Round and there was no reason to push its players harder. So, one could say, they had an "easy" entrance into the Playoffs.

But they have fought with all their might to stay in. In their Wild Card Round game against the Bengals, the Jets were the underdog by 3½ points. And this time, the Bengals were going at it for real. But it mattered very little if the Bengals were trying harder or not. With a strong defense, and some nice plays by rookie Mark Sanchez the Jets just whooped them again, 24-14.

Last week they were facing non other then the well rested San Diego Chargers in what seemed like a tough road game. With an 11-0 win streak the Chargers were the favorite team by -7 points in the spread by midweek. An hour before kickoff, Instant Actions Sports line movers had made them favorite by -9 points with a -115 juice. But then the unexpected happen. The Jets came back from a 7-0 halftime deficit to win the game 17-14.

Bottom line is they played the game quite smartly. First they set up their top-rated strong and agile defense. Then they ran the ball in a swift offensive strategy that kept pushing the chains. They didn't ask much from rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez and with good rushing plays they were able to leave the Charges behind. It seems simple, but it has allowed the Jets to win 7 of their last 8 games.

And that sure makes one team extremely happy. Peyton Manning and the Colts have enough experience behind them to know that they cannot (and will not) take their game against the Jets lightly. But if we look back into their last two seasons, it must be quite a relief for the Colts to know that the Jets already took care of the San Diego Chargers.

The San Diego Chargers have defeated the Colts in their last 4 games. What is more important here is that the Chargers have kicked the Colts out of the Playoffs in their last 2 seasons. And truth be said, all though the Colts have already lost to the Jets earlier in the Season, the Jets defeated Curtis Painter´s version of the Colts.

As of press time, the Indianapolis Colts are the favorite by 7 ½ points on the spread. Just like the Chargers were last week. It is not quite certain if the Jets are going to be able to pull out and upset. It seems quite possible that the Colts are going to take the game. If by any chance, circumstance, or fate, the Jets do win, one cannot forget that it was the Colts, and the Colts alone who gave them an easy pass into the Playoffs.
